A New Shoulder for Me
It's about 130 days from launch date. (Please remember that the dates of these posts are often months after they were written)
I'm sporting a sexy little black sling as I continue to heal from an open rotator cuff repair. I actually volunteered, no asked...nearly begged for this surgery. I had had my right one repaired about 11 yrs ago so I knew what was in store. Yet, our minds do not remember that level of trauma, of pain. WOW! has this been intense!!!
I remember walking into my surgeon's office to get the wheels in motion to get it done well before my walk. He just wasn't understanding my urgency - so I told him. After alot of guffawing on his part, I finally said, "Dr, Macksoud, I am walking nearly 3000 miles pushing a 100 pound cart. It is your responsibilty to make sure my shoulder can do it." Well, may I say, THAT got him serious. So on Sept 21st, I had the surgery.
As I lie on the table at the physical therapy office, allowing my therapist, Kathy, to move my shoulder for me because I cannot, I return again and again to the "hows". How on earth is this going to be possible? But I've learned...and continue to learn...that the hows are not mine to know. I follow step by step this journey of which I've dreamed and the hows just fall into place.
But still...wondering happens.
Dr. Wadih Macksoud
