Pursuit of Another Passion
I am appalled. Completely disgusted and embarrassed that I'm human.
I watched the MOTHER OF ALL "why to be vegan" films last night, called Earthlings.
I found out about it when I was at the farm animal sanctuary last Saturday, so I came home, checked to see if it was on Netflix, which it wasn't, so I ordered a previously owned copy from Amazon.
Most of the other films I've watched, and recommended to you, my readers, have emphasized veganism as a way to combat obesity, cancer, heart disease, etc. For OUR benefit. Only touching briefly on the subject of respect, dignity and kindness for our fellow earth travelers who may be lying on our dinner plates.
This film, however, focuses on the animals. All animals, not just the cows, chickens and pigs. From our companion animals to circus animals, animals used in scientific research to the animals we wear. It was deeply and profoundly disturbing. So don't watch it unless you are ready to be moved.
Each of us has a responsibility to raise the consciousness of humankind on this planet we call home. If PEACE is our battle cry, pick an area that speaks to you and pursue peace in that arena. Perhaps animal rights is not your thing but global warming is...pursue doing "something" for that cause. Maybe understanding water usage and consumption blows your skirt up...then do "something" there. It could be the starving children in...fill in the blank...you get it, right. Each of us is here to DO something.
Peace goes further and deeper than what we first think. Dive deep within and discover what is yours to do in the pursuit of peace. Then do it. Just one small thing will trickle to the whole.
You may have come to this blog to read about my walk. Well, I'm grounded at the moment but I'm not sticking my head in the ground. I'm awake and aware on this day in May. And I'm willing to take a stand on this issue in my pursuit of peace.
