Beach Day
I am sitting under a blue, blue sky, marked by clouds designed by the wind. A wonderful breeze keeps me cool and the sound of the ocean surf lulls me into deep relaxation.
I'm here at Daytona Beach commemorating a special day with my friend, Sylvia. We each brought healthy snacks since I'm eating clean and green and she's on Weight Watchers. But still we are jonesing for chocolate or ice cream or something...ANYTHING...yummy and delicious that will satisfy our one day mini vacation. The beach increases your cravings ten-fold. Well, we did share a couple beers and some pretzel crisps - not exactly clean or green but that did keep us from hunting and gathering at the beach kiosks where less healthy options lay in wait.
Our individual eating plans are working. Sylvia has lost 9 lbs on WW and I've lost 8 lbs on my personal clean and green plan. Weight loss was to be expected for me but was not my main goal, so it was a nice surprise.
I had watched a movie the night before our beach day called "Lbs". Though it didn't follow the fact-driven documentary-style films I had been watching, it still was provocative, disturbing, compelling.
Close to the bone, in other words.
As Sylvia and I sat on the beach and observed all the other beach-goers, it was glaringly clear that a HUGE percentage of us are, well, HUGE. The average size population is less than half of the people we saw and the fit/lean folks are as rare as white tigers. In Florida. On the beach.
Here's a list of the films I've been watching:
- Food, Inc
- Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead
- Forks Over Knives
- Ingredients
- Food Matters
- Hungry For Change
I hope you watch some of them and find them as compelling as I.
For those of you interested in when I may begin my walk again...it will be when I get my finances in order. But all is well. God is my Source. And I am excitedly looking forward to getting back out there with a greater understanding and preparedness in place.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK ME QUESTIONS ABOUT NEARLY ANYTHING I'VE BEEN DOING. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM SOME OF YOU.
