Unbelievable Crazy Day

29 DAYS TILL I WALK !!!

But this post is not about leaving. In fact, it's a whole lot about not being able to leave. Not on the trip, but...

A couple days ago I was on the hunt for bungee cords. I LOVE LOVE LOVE bungee cords. They are useful for a myriad of purposes. I was looking for a container filled with 20-25 of them of various sizes so I first went to Lowe's, a home improvement store...no bungees. Then I went to my local hardware store...way too expensive. Finally decided to go to Home Depot, the final say on all things home improvement. I was right! Found a nice container full of them. I opened the lid, pulled a few out and then, satisfied, I went to the check out register then out to my truck.

No keys!

I went back inside straight to the bungee cord isle, no keys.
To the register where I checked out, no keys.
To customer service, no keys.

Went back outside, scouring the ground in case I had dropped them. No keys.

I asked a guy in the parking lot if he had a flat head screw driver because I knew how to break into my own truck (someone broke into it this way about 1 1/2 yrs ago and I'm a quick study). I borrowed their screw driver, broke into the truck but still...no keys.

So I called a locksmith and 2 hrs and $130 later (it was a chip key), I was on the road again. With my beloved bungee cords. Expensive boogers!

Stopped at a grocery store on the way home to pick up a few things. When I got home I realized I had forgotten a bag at the store. Back in the truck, back to the store.

Got out of the truck to walk back into the store and locked the vehicle...yup...you guessed it. Keys in truck.

In the ignition with truck running.

By now I'm feeling pretty much like a stroke victim.

Went into the dollar store to buy a flat head screw driver. Broke into the truck again to retrieve keys. Got groceries I had left behind and went home.

To stay there.

Later that evening when I unpacked my extremely expensive bungee cords...there were my keys...in the plastic container.

What the heck is the lesson here?

Well, I'll be selling this blasted truck in a couple of weeks. At least the new owner will have the luxury of two keys!
