Feeling in a Muddle? Don't Struggle!

When we feel stuck, going nowhere--even starting to slip backward--we may actually be backing up to get a running start.
Dan Millman

Do you ever feel like you’re sinking in quicksand? And the more thrashing you do, the deeper you sink? If you’ve watched as many action flicks over the years as I have, or nature documentaries, you’ve learned that struggling makes you sink faster. We are supposed to become still. And wait for rescue.

What is it that causes you to feel stuck in the muck? Sometimes for me it’s as simple as poor nutrition; or yet another day of gloomy, rainy weather; or my weight on the scale heads in the wrong direction.

We get discouraged when we feel we’ve lost our way, when, as I’ve previously written, the path is unlit. Dark. Obscured. Or I don’t particularly like the path. There are thousands of reasons we can feel stuck. You know your own far better than I can begin to list here.

But again I come back to “what we resist persists.” Day after day I come face to face with this truth.

You might be wondering how good of a life coach can I possibly be if I, too, have struggles with life. Well, that’s like saying how can an oncologist get cancer. That oncologist is a human being first and a doctor second. I, too, am a human being first and a life coach second. I’m just another bozo on the bus of life, just like you. I just have, maybe, more tools to help with the growing pains of life. I’m an evolving, stretching, learning life coach. And how can I help you if I can’t relate to all that life dishes out, all the joys and the struggles? It has always been my objective to be as honest and transparent as I can be when I write to you.

Today, and every day that I write, I will say this very same thing: don’t resist. Feel the discomfort. Feel the pain. It’s okay.

And as you sit still, waiting for rescue…pray. Pray to your Source for comfort and peace.

And to burn the light just a little brighter so you can see where to place your foot next.
