How To Walk Across America
I was on Facebook 2 days ago and discovered that Tyler Coulson had just released his latest book, How to Walk Across America. Within minutes I had that baby downloaded on my Kindle! I have mentioned on multiple occasions how great it would be to have a "how-to" book and, voila, there she be!
I had read Tyler's previous book By Men or by the Earth, which chronicles his actual walk. But this latest one is just perfecto timing for me. It covers nearly everything, stuff I hadn't even thought about. I also had the surprise opportunity to chat with Tyler on the phone, a super nice thing for him to do for me...giving his time away and all.
We discussed routing and I will need to spend alot of time evaluating and considering my route. It's a little difficult to predict where I might approximately be and when because at this time, I am not a fast walker but I feel after a month or two, or 3!, I will hopefully pick up speed. (That is a messy sentence, I hope you get it). So again, thank you, Tyler, for making me aware of the importance of route.
My major concern has always been for Jaxs, my crazy ass dog. I guess if the terrain gets just too rough or the weather gets just too hot, I'll have the option to ship her home to my boys. (They don't know this yet...shhhh).
So where do I stand after importing alot of information? Right where I stood before...ready to go as soon as I can. I must admit to you that at first I thought, "what the hell, I can't do this!" but that quickly vanished and I'm freshly invigorated. Woohoo............
Whether you are planning on walking across America or not, this book, devoured by me in hours, is a fun and interesting read. Go get it.
By the way, neither the author or publisher have any knowledge of my raving review. I am receiving nothing, and I mean NOTHING, from them for printing this little ditty on my blog.
