Let Me Introduce You To Jack

17 DAYS TILL WALK BEGINS !!!

The JOB I just left was with the Orange County Tax Collector's office. I worked with the public, processing yearly car registrations, processed title work and renewed driver's licenses. More recently, our office began to administer driving road tests. This was my favorite thing to do.

The week before I resigned, a young man, accompanied by his mother, came to my desk for his road test. I began processing his personal documents, noting that his first name was Jackson as listed on his birth certificate. I asked him if he went by the name Jackson or Jack. He replied that he was called Jackson. By this time we had built a nice rapport so I told him I was going to call him Jack. He told me I could call him anything I wanted as long as he passed his test and walked out with his big boy driver's license. Whatever!!! The kid did great, passed with flying colors, actually, and as I handed him his new license, I told him the next dog I got was going to be named Jack.

Who knew that would be three days later.

Who knew this dog would be a female!

So here's Jack, my traveling companion and newest best friend, full of precious puppy energy spilling out all over the place. We will have lots of time for training for the next year on the road. (read: naughty naughty naughty).

She's had a few health concerns because of her strange beginnings with Animal Control, but we are working them all out and I'm confident she will be at 100% when we leave in 17 days. I realize the walk could be a bit more complicated with Jack, but I also believe that her companionship will be more than worth the complications.

Besides...she's a gift.
